During spring 2025, Note Design Studio unveiled a new collaboration with Danish colour brand Blēo, where Note has created Statements – a bold palette of 10 distinct colours for both big surfaces and details.
Blēo is a Copenhagen-based colour and surface house inspired by contemporary culture, philosophy, and research. Blēo wants to pioneer a new and conceptual approach to colour, built on an eclectic understanding of arts and science, quality, history and innovation. To take colour beyond the traditional boundaries of paint, Blēo collaborates with some of today’s most compelling artists, architects, and designers on distinctive and personal palettes that tell the story of a person, practice, or place.
The collaboration with award-winning Swedish design studio Note resulted in a brand-new palette called Statements. Sanna Wåhlin, interior architect and partner at Note, explains that Statements is a bold palette of colours. Yet in it, there are separate tones which can make a room feel magical, because of their softness, deepness, darkness, or complete punch of colour.
”We encourage you to use the colours according to your personality and gut feeling. We would most likely put the more saturated colour on big surfaces, and the bolder ones on details, smaller surfaces or objects. But, every project and person is different, and we believe these circumstances should set the direction for any palette. The colours benefit from matching them in different combinations with each other. They look good on their own but even better together, Wåhlin says, and concludes:
“There are expectations on how colour should be used but we believe it should reflect our own personalities. Colours emit vibrations of our emotional states. Whether vibrant or muted. Comfortable or uncomfortable, colours should always represent us.”
The colours in Statements by Note (design studio):
Facade Grey (NO DE 01). A mellow, basic grey that has a warm undertone.
Pasta beige (NO DE 02 ) Quite basic, but yet has a lot of character, Will make any room feel warm and glowy.
Raincoat Red (NO DE 03) The boldest of the colours. Paired with any other, it will lift its friend colour to unimaginable levels.
Deep green (NO DE 04) An almost ugly green, vibrant with plenty of yellow in it to attract lots of attention from anyone it encounters. One of our forever favourites to combine with other colours, to create tension.
Greenish yellow (NO DE 05) Energetic, uplifting. Beautiful for a room that should bathe in brightness.
Shadow blue (NO DE 06) Like a foggy autumn sky or a cold, shadowed wall. Soft, smooth, very serene. Like air or if you would imagine the colour of oxygen.
Dark greyish blue (NO DE 07) Deep, dark and warm despite being blue, it will create a calm and serene base to the room where it is painted. Perfect for a calm bedroom or any room that can handle a bit of darkness and depth.
Deep warm brown (NO DE 08) This type of brown is a typical Note favourite. Creating the perfect brown is challenging, as it can’t be too red or too yellow. This one we think is the one. Might be a bit too dark for walls, but a big helper for details, furniture, and custom-made elements.
Leather brown (NO DE 09) Inspired by the glowy colour of worn natural leather, like on your old favourite chair or a vintage leather handbag. It creates a natural, soft ambience.
Punchy blue (NO DE 10) Our perfect bold blue colour. Works very well when you need a partner colour for other, milder ones, to create dynamic palettes.
