”We celebrate curiosity through expression in art and design, exploration of materials and techniques, craftsmanship and local production. The initiative aims to highlight the contemporary Swedish design and celebrate the rich, imaginative language and the personal perspective that the creators share with us. I hope to create a meeting point where the Swedish contemporary design meets a broader audience and inspires us to be more curious.” says Kadi Harjak, CEO of NK Interior.

Exhibiting in Ljusgården:

Gustav Winsth

Gustav Winsth has run a design studio in Stockholm since graduating from Beckmans College of Design in 2021. With a background in mechanical engineering, he explores how materials and production techniques shape both function and expression. His work moves between the industrial and the experimental, where technical precision meets a strong material presence. The studio works with both product design and spatial commissions and has gained recognition through collaborations within the furniture industry and the cultural sector, as well as awards such as Newcomer of the YearFurniture of the Year and Gamechanger of the Year.

At NK, Gustav Winsth presents his conceptual TIG vases, which elevate welding to an art form by placing the joint at the centre. TIG challenges hierarchies within craft by letting construction become both method and form, where technical precision meets a clear, graphic expression. He also presents the cabinet INFERNO, designed in 2023. Conceived as a pedestal in itself, the cabinet is designed to carry its own visual value rather than recede behind the objects placed on top. The structure is made of MDF with rounded corners and finished in a rust-red lacquer to enhance its presence in the space.

Malin Pierre

Malin Pierre creates organic glass sculptures inspired by haute couture and the contrast between softness and hardness. Working impulsively and exploratively, she is driven by a deep curiosity for materials—their surfaces, weight and tactility. She is fascinated by how materials behave and appear, and by the material transformation from soft fabric to hard yet fragile glass. At the core of her practice lies the inherent contradiction of glass as a medium—neither liquid nor solid, but an amorphous solid existing between two states of matter.

Pierre holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, Department of Ceramics and Glass (2021 and 2023). Since completing her Master’s degree, she has been active at G-studion in Gustavsberg and has held several solo exhibitions as well as participated in numerous group exhibitions in Sweden and internationally.

At NK, she presents the glass sculptures BlondeBlack Hole Sun and Dark Rainbow.

Niklas Runesson

As a self-taught artist, designer and carpenter, Niklas Runesson creates objects that are equally sculptural furniture and functional artworks. Using few components but pushing the boundaries of Scandinavian minimalism, each piece is meticulously handcrafted, giving the room a living presence that shifts depending on placement and viewpoint.

Runesson engages all senses in his process, exploring the tactile surface, scent and visual character of the wood. Simple yet exclusive craftsmanship is central to every detail, from wood selection and finish to textiles.

In the exhibition, he presents Beast Chair 002 and Masur DaybedBeast Chair 002 is an open series of sculptural chairs made of black-stained red oak with upholstered back and seat in black alpaca/mohair. Laminated wood is used to simulate a solid log.

“I find it interesting to play with form and technique to highlight our belief that nature is one thing and humans another—when in fact we exist on exactly equal terms,” says Niklas Runesson.

Masur Daybed is crafted from locally sourced solid masur birch with an upholstered seat in black alpaca/mohair. Its gently tapered design and organic legs create a tactile, flowing form.

Nick Ross

Nick Ross (b. 1986) is a Scottish-Swedish designer based in Stockholm. His work centres on exploring the intricate layers of history—particularly prehistory—by examining facts and events that have shaped cultural balances over time. Ross has exhibited internationally and collaborated with brands including +Halle, Rimowa, Audo, Lintex, NIKO JUNE and Louis Vuitton.

An interest in early forms of architecture strongly influences his design approach. The way humans have arranged stones and materials to create structures for practical and spiritual purposes forms the foundation of his sculptural explorations. This return-to-basics approach is, for Ross, a sustainable and meaningful response to today’s complex and fragmented society.

“These objects are simple and express my design philosophy in its purest form: material and volume in context,” says Nick Ross.

At the NK exhibition, he presents a chair, a shelf, a side table and two vases. The furniture is strictly limited to eight editions, while the vases are unique pieces.

Exhibiting in NK’s Display Windows

Pia Wallén – Flacons

Pia Wallén is a Swedish designer based in Stockholm, internationally recognised for her pioneering work in felt. Educated at Beckmans College of Design, she made her breakthrough in the early 1990s with a bold, minimalist expression rooted in Swedish folk tradition yet firmly contemporary. The interplay between heritage and experimentation remains a defining feature of her work.

In the window displays Pia Wallén showcases Flakong 1 Red in handmade ceramic and Flakong Yellow in hand-blown glass.

“Flacons inspire me, both in form and decoration. I have continued to develop the shapes in glass and ceramics. My focus is on the form itself, but also on glaze and braiding. I began working with glass braids during NK Inredning’s Together project with Reijmyre Glassworks in 2023. The inspiration lies in the historical symbolism of braiding—its craftsmanship and timelessness—as well as memories of childhood hair braids.” says Pia Wallén.

Mimmi Blomqvist – Forest

Mimmi Blomqvist is a Stockholm-based artist and designer. After completing a Master’s degree in Ceramics and Glass at Konstfack (2022) and studies at Tillskärarakademin, she works independently from her studio. With roots in both textiles and ceramics, she creates sculptural design where nature’s organic forms meet the elegance of fashion—playful, tactile and always unexpected.

In this installation, the essence of nature and childhood memories intertwine. Like mycelium spreading invisibly beneath the forest floor, these forms and motifs have grown and shaped each piece. Using fabric as a mould for plaster casting allows the materials’ own dynamics to emerge—the density of the fabric, the weight and mass of the plaster interacting organically. Each form begins as a sewn textile piece, a temporary mould that gives life to something lasting.

Cappelen Dimyr – Floral Linen collection, no10 and no24

Cappelen Dimyr is a Scandinavian soft interior atelier that embraces a commitment to uniqueness, eclectic minimalism, and the seamless integration of textures, qualities, and shapes. The curated selection ranges from handmade rugs to artisanal wall tapestries and other textile essentials, dedicated to elevate living spaces with sophistication and a premium bohemian style. The aesthetic of the products combines the tranquility of natural materials with refined and premium unconventional design. We seek to create a contemporary coziness and want our pieces to be the final element of a personal and eclectic home. Cappelen Dimyr launched its first chapter of rugs in 2019 and has since then constantly evolved its assortment.

Behind the brand are founders Jacob Holst, Maja Dixdotter, Ellen Dixdotter, David Holm and Lisa Dixdotter, together with CEO Dick Eriksson, all of whom are actively involved in the company’s daily operations.

In NK’s window display, Cappelen Dimyr unveils a new collection of tablecloths and napkins, together with selected pieces from the no. 24 rug collection.

Pieces shown in NK’s display windows
Floral linen Tablecloth: SEK 7,200
Floran linen Napkins: SEK 750 / 2-pack
no.10 Rug ’Colonnade’: SEK 11,100
no.24 Rug 230 × 280 cm: SEK 23,100

Sekt – Puritan Pendant Small

Rooted in Swedish craft traditions, Sekt carries forward knowledge and skills developed over generations of artisans. Production relies on traditional techniques such as mouth-blown glass, hot forging and sand casting—methods that leave visible traces of the human hand.

“Our creative drive lies in exploring and testing the boundaries of Sekt—the design universe we have created together. Designing purely to satisfy the market has never interested us.” says Lovisa Hansson, Sekt.

Sekt works with materials such as solid wood, brass, glass and bronze—materials that age beautifully over time, with the ambition of becoming future antiques.

At NK, Sekt presents an extension of the mouth-blown, Swedish-made glass family Puritan.

“In this new product, we continue working with the form inspired by a traditional oil lamp. Puritan Small is more compact and works beautifully when hung in pairs or rows in kitchens and hallways. The colour Sienna comes from earth and clay—a hue long used in art to recreate natural tones of skin and wood. It harmonises with Sekt’s existing palette and creates a warm, inviting light.” says Milan Kosovic, Sekt.

Lisa Hilland – The Harvest

Lisa Hilland is one of Sweden’s most acclaimed contemporary designers, known for combining poetic expression with exceptional craftsmanship. Educated at Central Saint Martins in London, she worked there for ten years before establishing her own studio in Sweden in 2005. She is a multi-award-winning designer whose clients include Svenskt Tenn, IKEA, Gemla, Design House Stockholm and Orrefors. In 2018, Hilland launched her own brand in collaboration with NK Inredning’s CEO Kadi Harjak, a partnership that has since deepened through several high-profile projects at NK.

For this year’s exhibition, Hilland has created a glass collection together with Orranäs Glasbruk, inspired by the Swedish agricultural landscape and its tools.

“Generations of farmers’ hard work form the foundation of today’s welfare. I’m fascinated by humanity’s ability to cultivate and draw the best from nature. Through my lifelong involvement with horses, I spend a lot of time in the countryside and have gained insight into agricultural life from an early age. In the past, people were better at managing resources—something I wanted to apply in this project. I visited scrap yards across Skåne to find old farming tools, which I then welded together into new forms to use as moulds for glassblowing,” says Lisa Hilland.

Together with the glassblowers at Orranäs Glassworks in Småland, she created The Harvest, a series of vases, bowls and platters in various sizes. The vase moulds are made from parts of an old hay tedder, a farming implement used to turn hay in the field to speed up drying. The tool marks leave traces from a bygone era in the glass, while creating a new and unexpected visual expression.

The series also includes the Harvest Bench, inspired by traditional Swedish folk furniture but reinterpreted with a contemporary expression. Built using the minimum number of components, the turned stretcher—with its exposed end grain in the seat—adds both durability and visual interest. The bench can be used for seating or as a surface and is crafted in Sweden with exceptional care and craftsmanship.
