During Stockholm Design Days 2026, The Building brings together seven leading Nordic design brands in a curated exhibition at Västra Trädgårdsgatan 9 in central Stockholm. Set within a 17th-century palace later reshaped in the early 20th century by architect Ragnar Östberg, the space provides a distinctive architectural framework for a series of individual brand presentations.

The exhibiting brands at The Building are String Furniture, Gemla, Grythyttan Stålmöbler, Källemo, ateljé Lyktan, Made by Choice and HAHA studio – brands that together embody the craftsmanship, innovation, and essence of contemporary Nordic design.

Each brand curates its own exhibition in the historic building, collectively forming a layered and dynamic exhibition space spanning three floors that celebrates the diversity, heritage and creative dialogue shaping design today.

String Furniture
New launches from String Furniture are shown across several collections. The String® System and String® Pocket are introduced in a new Dark Oak/Dark Brown finish. The Pira system is expanded with a sliding-door display cabinet designed by Björn Dahlström and Anna von Schewen, while selected pieces from the Museum Collection by TAF Studio, such as a pedestal and a trolley, are also presented.

Grythyttan Stålmöbler
Grythyttan Stålmöbler presents new releases for 2026, led by Bovik, a new outdoor furniture range based on the brand’s classic spring steel frame from the 1930s, combined with a slimmer teak profile. Also shown is High Tech with a new tabletop colour, Charcoal, as well as new additions to the Libelle series, designed by Andreas Engesvik, including a larger table and a backless bench.

Gemla
Gemla showcases furniture crafted in its Swedish carpentry, including COLLAGE by Front, BIO Lounge Chair by David Eriksson, STAM side tables by Sami Kallio and ZINC bar chair by Mathieu Gustafsson. New introductions such as GOURMET Soft Back by Studio Stockholm, STAM Coffee Table Small by Sami Kallio and ROTUNDA Wooden Seat by Jack Ränge highlight Gemla’s expertise in steam-bent solid wood. Additionally, Ung Svensk Form winner Javier Masa presents his product VIDE in the exhibition.

Källemo
Källemo introduces The Perforated Furniture Series, designed by Folkform. It comprises three models: a book cradle, a wall-mounted shelf, and a freestanding floor shelf. Källemo and Folkform share a commitment to long-term values in form, material, and production. A collaboration that has grown out of a mutual interest in how industrial methods can be combined with a clear artistic intention. Also shown is furniture designed by Källemos other prominent designers, such as Gunnar Asplund, John Kandell, Anna Kraitz, and Mats Theselius, all in new executions created specifically for the exhibition. The exhibition is conceptualized by artist and architect Michel Bussien.

ateljé Lyktan
ateljé Lyktan presents Mela, a new luminaire designed by Matti Klenell, originally created for Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. The piece builds on ateljé Lyktan’s nearly century-long archive of Swedish lighting design, combining historical references with contemporary functionality. Mela explores how light interacts with space and materials, translating Klenell’s architectural approach into a versatile luminaire suitable for both private and public interiors.

HAHA studio
Stockholm-based lighting brand HAHA studio presents a new collection of pendant, table and wall lamps, all designed and produced in Sweden. New releases include Solen, a pendant lamp in CNC-milled raw aluminium with a sunray-patterned surface, alongside the sculptural Donut and Grid table lamps. Designed by founder Arash Eskafi – and Oliver Edgren, the collection reflects HAHA studio’s focus on small-scale, local and sustainable production.

Made by Choice
From an artist’s draft to a crafted masterpiece.
Made by Choice presents furniture sprung from a number of international collaborations, including the Kolho Collection with Matthew Day Jackson, Lieksa with Snarkitecture, Goma by Thomas Sandell and Wiurila by Bernadotte & Kylberg. The presentation reflects the brand’s emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, local production and long-term use.

David Ivarsson
Truls Goldschmidt
Gabriela Stenclova
Emilie Palle Holm

Nils Askhagen

The exhibition will not only serve as a destination for press and professionals, but will also open its doors to the public, inviting design enthusiasts to experience the creativity, craftsmanship, and stories behind the participating brands and their products.
