Swedish designer Gustav Winsth, known for his unique blend of mechanical innovation and contemporary design, will present his latest project at Stockholm Design Week 2025. A graduate of Beckmans College of Design with a strong foundation in engineering, Winsth is recognized for pushing creative boundaries through bold aesthetics, innovative materials, and new manufacturing techniques. His work integrates AR and VR technologies, helping to redefine traditional design processes and establish him as an important figure in the next generation of Scandinavian designers.
New Showroom for BOBO: A Warm, Minimalist Space
One of the key projects Winsth will showcase at Stockholm Design Week is the new showroom and workspace he has co-designed with Max Stjerna for BOBO, a brand known for its minimalist approach to glassware. Their vision for the space blends a warm, tavern-like atmosphere with the crisp, refined minimalism that defines BOBO’s aesthetic.
The showroom features stained MDF panels designed to evoke the warmth and character of classic wooden bar or tavern paneling. These panels run around a custom bar counter and throughout the entire showroom, serving both as a display surface and as a functional ’bar counter.’ The built-in cabinets are large enough to store BOBO’s product boxes. A custom stainless-steel shelf, illuminated with integrated lighting, displays the glassware in an elegant, gallery-like setting.
The ceramic lamps, in a deep red that serves as the most prominent accent—though red is a recurring theme throughout the space—were crafted to create a soft, organic light against the walls. This gentle illumination contrasts with the sharp lines of the surrounding shelving and panelling, balancing the space with warmth and texture.
Winsth’s Graphic Terrazzo concept, a customizable surface material that allows brands to integrate their identity into their environment, is featured in the shop windows, serving as both display and seating. The bold BOBO logo is embedded in the concrete, reinforcing the brand’s presence within the space. The showroom’s centerpiece is a striking ash table with built-in storage, which can easily be moved between event use and everyday functions. Vintage furniture has been carefully selected to add character and depth to the otherwise minimalist design.
