At The Building, an exhibition presents seven of Sweden’s most compelling emerging designers, coming together to create an experience where visitors will encounter a rich diversity of expressions, disciplines and perspectives—united by a shared interest in materials, craftsmanship and form.

From 3–5 February 2026, the former CFHILL gallery at Västra Trädgårdsgatan 9, just steps away from Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm, is transformed into The Building—a design destination where some of the Nordic’s most renowned design brands come together for a shared vision for Stockholm Design Days. String Furniture, Grythyttan Stålmöbler, Gemla, Källemo, ateljé Lyktan, Made by Choice and HAHA studio each curate their own exhibition within the historic building. Together, they form a multifaceted and dynamic whole that highlights diversity, heritage and the creative dialogue shaping contemporary design.

As part of the initiative, the seven brands have also invited a group of young emerging designers to present their work to the press, industry professionals, architects and a design-interested public.

“We as producers want to actively support and highlight emerging designers by sharing our collective platform with the next generation of design talent. Through The Building, we have created a context where new voices can take their place alongside established actors,” says Karin Lundh, CEO of Källemo, and continues:

“By inviting a group of young talents to exhibit with us free of charge, we aim to create a professional setting where their work can be showcased and discussed. Access to a both visible and credible environment can make a real difference – both for the designers and for the continued development of the design field as a whole.”

The exhibition is curated by Nils Askhagen and seeks to reflect the breadth of contemporary design and craft.

“Rather than striving for a unified aesthetic, we wanted to bring together multiple expressions and practices and allow them to meet within the space,” Askhagen says.

The exhibition is described as both varied and material-driven, with a strong sense of form as the common thread among all participants. The group consists of designers educated at different design schools across Sweden, currently at various stages of their careers—something that is also reflected in the presentation.

“The selection was made with an emphasis on variation, both in terms of disciplines such as furniture, lighting and sculpture, and materials including wood, stone, metal, glass and textiles,” Askhagen concludes.
