During Stockholm Design Week, Swedish acoustics brand BAUX, unveiled its latest innovation: the X-FELT collection, designed in collaboration with the international design studio Form Us With Love. The collection consists of large-format, high-performance acoustic panels and tiles made from ultra-fine high-quality polyester fibers sourced from GRS-certified PET, that uniquely eliminate the need for harmful fire-retardant treatments. The panels and tiles combine superior sound absorption with striking, precision-cut patterns inspired by Japanese Zen gardens.

“Designers are seeking materials that are equally functional and environmentally responsible, and X-FELT provides a solution that combines superior fire safety, sound absorption, and great versatility,” says Fredrik Franzon, CEO and Co-Founder at BAUX.

When BAUX and Form Us With Love created the X-FELT collection, they draw inspiration from the balance, simplicity, and harmony of Japanese Zen Gardens, where every element is carefully arranged to evoke a sense of calm and mindfulness—resulting in what Co-Founder John Löfgren calls “zenseful acoustics.”

“It embodies the idea of creating serene and balanced soundscapes that promote well-being, combining the functionality of superior sound absorption with aesthetic elements that soothe and inspire,” explains John Löfgren. “This concept helps designers create environments that enhance focus, reduce stress, and foster comfort—qualities that are increasingly sought after in workplaces, hospitality, and residential spaces.”

The X-FELT collection gives interior designers exceptional creative freedom, with a series of precision-cut patterns that can be mixed and matched to create unique rhythms of wandering lines from walls to ceilings. The collection comes in a range of different patterns and a versatile palette of solid colours and contrasting duo colours achieved through a layered sandwich construction technique. The lightweight and large-format panels and tiles for walls and ceilings are ideal for creating cohesive and visually striking installations while maximising sound absorption in larger spaces.

A circular and unique next-generation textile
X-FELT is made from ultra-fine, high-quality polyester fibers sourced from GRS-certified PET. The fibers are combined using a layered sandwich construction technique, resulting in a smooth, compact, and lightweight structure that is then cut into panels and tiles, providing a long-lasting acoustic solution.

The advanced PET fibre structure of X-FELT not only effectively absorbs sound, but its compact nature also eliminates the need for harmful fire-retardant treatments. Eliminating these additives reduces the risk of toxic emissions during production, use, and disposal. X-FELT is rated Fire Class Bs.1-d0 for both wall and ceiling applications.

At the end of X-FELT’s lifetime, consumers can support circularity by recycling the product at facilities that process PET, or through BAUX’s take-back BAUX Circle Programme, to ensure responsible disposal and re-use.
