Last year, Swedish acoustic experts Abstracta unveiled an exclusive collaboration with art platform Wall of Art, applying contemporary art to Abstracta’s high-performance acoustic panels to combine aesthetics with function. Now the series is expanded with new art from the acclaimed Swedish artist and illustrator Lena Wigers.
Abstracta has a long history of creating innovative solutions that improve acoustics and add both aesthetic and functional value. Abstracta x Wall of Art is no exception and does not compromise on art, acoustic function, or choice of materials. Behind the motifs, printed on cotton fabric, is a highly effective sound absorber made from textile waste and polyester from recycled PET bottles, resulting in a minimal environmental footprint. The oak frame, combined with the cotton fabric, enhances the tactile feel and creates an elegant impression which is well suited for restaurants, hotel lobbies, or co-working spaces, for example.
Lena Wigers is an illustrator and artist with her own studio in Stockholm. She works with a mix of realistic portraits, fashion illustrations, and abstract art. Her motifs are usually created by hand using mixed media and the final details are done digitally. She is excited to see her works get an enhancement and additional dimension through Abstracta.
”In this collaboration, we see three new works in my Nexus series, where I explore the vibrant interplay between form, color, and space. It is a series that pushes the sense of connection and harmony. The interaction of abstract forms leads the eye to delve into the almost microscopic encounter, depicting an intimacy that is both immediate and distant. The collaboration with Abstracta adds a new dimension to the works, where art is not only a visual experience but also actively contributes to the atmosphere and feeling of the space”, Wigers explains.
The series already consists of 13 different motifs from the four artists Annika Hultgren, Evelina Kroon, Lucrecia Rey Caro, and Lisa Wirenfelt. With the new additions from Lena Wigers, it is now possible to get Abstracta’s acoustic panels adorned with 16 works of art that vary in both temperament and technique.
”These acoustic panels offer a simple way to create both a pleasant soundscape and an inspiring atmosphere. It is a unique solution that combines acoustics with art, creating harmonious soundscapes. At the same time, they give spaces personality and character with works from exciting artists,” says Linus Berglund, Marketing Manager at Abstracta.
The acoustic panels are available in three sizes: 100 x 140 cm, 70 x 100 cm, and 50 x 70 cm – with elegant frames in untreated or dark-oiled oak. Despite being no thicker than 45 millimeters, the acoustic capacity of the panels is very high. They effectively absorb ambient noise, making them ideal for busy environments. Multiple panels can be combined to create a visually expressive ensemble and to further improve the acoustics of a space.

About Wall of Art
Wall of Art is a digital platform for contemporary art from a selection of exciting artists. The Stockholm-based company has succeeded in inspiring people to add art to their interior design palette. The idea for the company was born in 2016 when its founders, artist Annika Hultgren and entrepreneur Nicklas Claeson, set out to design the interior of their new apartment. The range of popular motifs was large, almost too large, but more personalized and affordable art prints were hard to find. Finally, Annika decided to pick up the brush and paint some pictures herself. Her husband Nicklas began to wonder if more people would like to see her art on their walls, but it took time to manage everything around production and marketing on her own. That was the start of Wall of Art, which today is a platform where both Annika Hultgren and other artists sell their art exclusively.
